Default Nursing Home care/ Family

Hello to All, I had trouble getting on the site...I had tried many times then tonight I tried and got through to finish my story about my sweet Mom. I will try. My Mom passed away November 30th 2009 and is completing her long journey to the Heavens above with my Dad, Sister and Brother. My daughter myself and Mom and all so many others have treasured this time with Mom, we had almost 2 years longer with her, since she was on Hospice. Did I tell you I had a terrific Garage Sale for her, she so loved having one (in her younger days) once a year....Ofcourse most of the people there all had (Alz)but boy did they have fun along with the Aides, and staff. This hadn't been done before in one of the Residents rooms. Haaaa it was fun. I started Mom out with a purse full of change and $20.00. We began with the prices being a $1.00 each. After a few gals came in about 15 or so, we ask Mom if everything could be FREE, she said yes and then we all had treats and drinks and a whole lot of laughing and the girls loved the costume jewerly and clothes we had! What a memory,I forgot to mention the gals kept going thru all the stuff cause they couldn't remember going thru it the first time....so this lasted about 2 hours of laughing and giving. We did decorate Moms room a few more Holidays,Halloween, Thanksgiving and the day of Thanksgiving we brought in all decorations for Christmas...the whole famiy and much of the staff were in and out of her room wishing her Happy Holidays. We new then,so we invited all to celebrate my sweet Moms life with us.Hospice and the Nursing staff and aides came in and out of Moms room it seemed for days.my Mom was talking to us and knew my name and Shawns untill 2 days before her passing. I always was afraid of Mom not knowing who I was or not knowing my name. The dear Lord saved me from going thru that and gave me strength and love to carry on for Mom and the family. I wanted to say Thank you to all the Great people on this site, for Ann and all the many others who Listen,Pray and take the time to be so Thoughtful.Thank You All. My Moms memory will Live on, along with my Fathers. After all they will be the couple up in the Heavens above, Ballroom Dancing at the Eastern Gate! Blessings to all, Creativehairbabe

Default Fighting Nursing Home Neglect - Ballroom Dancing Above

Dear Sandra,

Thank you so much for writing to tell us the "end of the story" with your sweet Mom. I am so glad you were able to be there with her for the final chapter, and that you and your daughter had the merit to be able to hold her and walk her through the final gate to the Next World to meet your father.

What a blessing, that she knew you up until nearly the very end!!

That is a privilege that so many others are not fortunate to have... I am glad to hear that you were not forced to face this particular trial, and that instead you will always have these positive memories of how life should end.

It is very unusual for a hospice situation to last as long as your Mother's did, and I can only assume that the reason was due to the wonderful care she received, and the loving attention she had from you and your family. May her memory be for a blessing, and may your future be bright with the promise of the guardianship of both of your parents from Heaven.

Feel free to drop in and write to us whenever you like! All our very best,

Ann
